The inaugural FANS Youth Film Festival hosted by Film Access Scotland & Creative Scotland launched in November 2018. The festival is programmed and delivered by Youth Volunteers.
We liased with the Youth Team for this branding project. The branding developed as the initial marketing campaign grew towards the collateral for the event. The graphic assets shifted and rearranged, maintaining a consistency but also an unpredictability which summed up the spirit of the festival.
We delivered - Design & Branding. Creative Strategy. Print Design.

An Lanntair is the arts centre based in Stornoway and is the largest entertainment venue in the Outer Hebrides. It hosts Music, Theatre, Comedy and Cinema events as well as an Exhibition space curating the finest contemporary art from the Isles and beyond.
LOOM's mission was to evolve the brand, reframing current elements to give an extra dimension to their story.
Wäxx Wraps is a startup business supplying reusable food wraps handmade in the Outer Hebrides.
When discussing the brand, we wanted to set it apart from competitors by not going down the usual bee themed route. Taking our queue from Scandinavian brands, we devised a bright & clean graphics system. The main framing graphic of the brand is dynamic ‘W’ shape that folds out and can be used in various forms much like the product itself.
What we delivered - Design & Branding. Brand Strategy. Packaging Design. Print Design & Management. Merchandise.

For the launch of LOOM, we wanted to create interest in the studio before the launch by creating a series of countdown numbers.
We began experimenting with ideas for how the numbers would lay out. The studio is very proud of being based in the Western Isles and wanted to tie in an aspect of life on the Isles into it. A list of some of the sights around the Isles, got us thinking of basing the numbers on the buildings and places found here.
Adding some isometric grids the numbers began to take shape. We took reference from Sheep Fanks, Eoropie Dunes Park, Abandoned Crofts, Takeaway Food Vans, Mini Jetties and of course finishing up with a representation of our studio in the shape of our logo.
Broadcasting every Monday on the Western Isle’s Community Station Isles FM, Night Call was an alternative radio show. It aimed to bring an out there selection of tracks every week based on a random theme.
The title music for the show used an 80’s infused electro synth track. The artwork for the show followed suit with with Synthwave art.
A custom bicycle frame maker in Glasgow needed a crest design that would fit on the front of their frames. The brand name ‘Rothair’ was a translation of the Scottish Gaelic word for ‘Bicycle’. Loom’s mission was to create modern logo that had a sense of heritage to it. The final design was based on the strength of the Ram, found widely in the Scottish Highlands.
Just a few years ago, Megan McDonald started out making candles as gifts from her kitchen. Today, her company, Sandwick Bay Candles, sell a range of products globally from her workshop in the Outer Hebrides.
It's been a delight to help this inspirational lady. From her creative briefs, I offered considered graphic solutions, lifting her humble tins into desirable products.
We created over 50 illustrations that had to adhere to a set of in-house style guidelines. Each illustration also needed variations to fit the smaller tablet and mobile screen sizes.
Maciver Project Services
Based in Stornoway, Maciver Project Services are a project and programme services company that had expanded in recent years. Beyond its main Consulting service, they now offered Digital Media Management.
We developed a brand system that catered for two sub ‘Consulting’ and ‘Digital’ identities that sat underneath an overall umbrella brand. This included a dynamic icon set that populated various media throughout.
For its 25th year, the Stornoway Saltire Celtic Supporters Club wanted a new logo for a new era. They also need a 25th symbol to mark their celebratory events.
Taking the turrets form Stornoway castle for inspiration we built custom letter to match. The double ‘S’ was neatly twisted to mimic the four leaf clover synonymous with the original Celtic Football Club Crest.
Clean Coast Outer Hebrides
This was a pro bono project for Clean Coast Outer Hebrides - a volunteer run action group, tackling the every growing plastic pollution.
We produced the logo, social media graphics and merchandise for this amazing group of people.
Sean Conway is a serial adventurer who had previously published the bestseller ‘Hell and High Water’ about his solo swim around the coast of Britain. His latest book was the story of his journey as he ran the length of Great Britain.
We produced a vectorised illustration to wraparound the cover. Sean had become famous for his long flowing beard which we used to convey the wild journey he undertook.
Although never selected as the final design, we and Sean were very pleased with it.
